Moore, 15, was named to the 12-man USA Basketball U16 team Tuesday. The team, currently training in Colorado Springs, will play in the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 championship June 14-18 in Formosa, Argentina. Moore and the Americans will play Puerto Rico in their first game June 14, play the Dominican Republic June 15 and conclude preliminary play games against Mexico June 16.

Semifinal games will be held June 17 and finals on June 18.

Moore was chosen from a group of 32 elite athletes from around the country.

In high school this season, Moore averaged 25 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.2 blocks. Moore scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the N.C. 3A state championship game, leading Cox Mill to a 70-66 win over Eastern Guilford.

A year prior, Moore became one of the few freshmen that North Carolina coach Roy Williams has ever offered a scholarship. He also has offers from Charlotte, Florida, Georgia, N.C. State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Moore is generally considered a top 25 national recruit in the class of 2019 and is the No. 1 college recruit from North Carolina in his class.

Following his sophomore season, Moore was named the N.C. Basketball Coaches Association state player of the year for public school athletes. He was a first-team All Charlotte Observer pick, an Associated Press all-state pick and he made the MaxPreps sophomore All-America team.
