Independence High is No. 1 in the Observer’s Sweet 16 high school basketball poll.

The Patriots (28-1) have won 19 straight games since losing to N.C. Independent Schools 2A state champion Carmel Christian 61-55 in December.

Independence will host No. 7 Olympic (22-4) in Tuesday’s N.C. 4A quarterfinal game.
