Huntersville will soon have ‘biggest margaritas in NC.’ When can you try them?
Rio 150 Mexican Restaurant is expanding yet again.
The local favorite and “home of the biggest margarita in NC” will open the doors on its new Huntersville restaurant on Thursday, May 14, according to social media posts. The celebration starts at 11 a.m.
It marks the chain’s fifth Charlotte-area restaurant.
“We’re bringing the same vibrant atmosphere, authentic Mexican flavors, handcrafted cocktails, and warm hospitality that you’ve come to expect from us,” co-owner Rashel Limper previously told CharlotteFive. “And to our loyal guests who have supported us from day one — thank you. We are beyond grateful, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our newest home.”
The eatery, featured on “America’s Best Restaurants” in 2023, will take over the La Victoria Cocina Mexicana & Bar on Caldwell Creek Drive that closed in March.
Formerly known as La Unica Mooresville, the family-run restaurant rebranded as Rio 150 and has continued its rapid expansion in the Charlotte metro, CharlotteFive previously reported. It has two locations in Mooresville and later opened spots in Concord and Charlotte’s Steele Creek neighborhood.
Soon, locals in Huntersville can chow on authentic Baja-style Mexican cuisine and wash it all down with a gargantuan margarita. Expect classic dishes like fajitas, carne asada, arroz con pollo and more than a dozen specialty tacos.
