Popular restaurant chain brings hearty salads, bowls to second Charlotte location
Sweetgreen, the fast-casual concept known for its hearty salads and bowls, is just a week away from opening the doors on its second Charlotte restaurant.
The grand opening celebration is on Tuesday, April 21, at Commonwealth Plaza Midwood, a retail and dining hub. It’s the latest in a slew of new restaurants to open at the buzzing shopping center, including Japanese restaurants Uchi and Uchibā, and Harriet’s Hamburgers.
Maman, an NY-based bakery café with an Oprah-approved cookie, is also slated to open there soon.
At Sweetgreen, locals will find a variety of customizable salads, bowls and protein plates. Limited-time dishes, like the citrus-forward Sesame Crunch Salad and a Korean BBQ-inspired menu, will also be available, the restaurant said.
Side items include rosemary foccacia bread and roasted sweet potatoes.
This marks the brand’s second location in Charlotte proper; the first opened in uptown in 2024, CharlotteFive previously reported. The Plaza Midwood site was part of a larger re-development of the former Central Square shopping center, now called Commonwealth.
Sweetgreen has also opened spots at Birkdale Village in Huntersville, and beyond the Charlotte metro in Raleigh. Today, the Los Angeles-based eatery operates more than 285 restaurants nationwide.
Sweetgreen-Plaza Midwood will open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
