Where are the best Charlotte bars, restaurants and watch parties to see the World Cup?

As Qatar gets ready for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, here at home in Charlotte there’s just one thing on our minds: Where are we all going to watch?

You can check our ultimate guide to 40+ soccer bars in the area and of course you can always choose to stream the games at home. But while you’re here, we’ll help you narrow it down with a few of our favorites that are offering extended hours, food specials and watch parties during the World Cup:

Angry Ale’s

Location: 1518 Montford Dr, Charlotte, NC 28209

World Cup watch spot Angry Ale’s, open 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily, will will open early if the USA playing. (It will also make sure you can hear all the USA games by cranking the sound on.) Enjoy $4, $5 and $6 appetizer specials Monday-Friday from 4-6:30 p.m. ,and after 11 p.m., along with drink specials each day.

Update: Angry Ale’s will open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18 for the final games. Show up for the regular menu plus breakfast biscuits. Drink specials:

Big Ben Restaurant & Pub

Location: 1535 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204

Big Ben will be showing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 games at the pub in Elizabeth. Come hungry for fish-n’-chips: the restaurant serves beer-battered Haddock n’ Chips with steak fries, slaw and a wally (a Gherkin).

Courtyard Hooligans

Location: 140 Brevard Court, Charlotte, NC 28202

The Brevard Court soccer bar will be open early for all World Cup matches, from Nov. 20-Dec. 18. Order up a local brew and watch from the bar that is known to all soccer fans. If downstairs is slammed, check upstairs — but who are we kidding? It’ll be slammed, too.

Devil’s Logic Brewing

Location: 1426 E 4th St, Charlotte, NC 28204

The brewery will host a USA vs. Netherlands watch party on Saturday, Dec. 3, opening at 9 a.m. Show up hangry for food from The Hanger — you’ll want to try some loaded pretzel bites or an adult lunchable to go with that craft beer.

Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse

All Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse locations will be open on Saturday and Sunday at 9:45 a.m. with its full menu for the World Cup Games starting at 10 a.m. (And, yes, the TV sound will be on for both games.)

Growlers Pourhouse

Location: 3120 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205

Growlers Pourhouse will open early for select World Cup games starting Nov. 21. Enjoy cheering alongside your order of Pesto Brie Fries, Fried Chicken Tacos or oysters and beer!

Here’s the schedule:

  • Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4: Growlers to open at 9:30 a.m. both days. It will be serving a special breakfast sandwich, made with a plain Reigning Doughnuts doughnut, bacon, egg and cheese.
  • Friday, Dec. 9, the doors will open at 1:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 18, Growlers will open at 9:30 a.m.

Take note, Growlers has new weeknight specials*:

  • Tuesdays: 3 tacos for $12, Classic Margarita for $8 + rotating specialty tacos.
  • Wednesdays and Sundays, chicken wings are $10 for 12 wings.

The Harp and Crown

Location: 19930 W Catawba Ave, Cornelius, NC 28031

The Harp and Crown is calling all soccer fans to join the crowd at the Cornelius pub, where you can have a beer along with a Guinness Stew Pot Pie.

“Watch all the games with us or don’t & like… really miss out,” the pub posted on Instagram.

Middle James Brewing Company

Location: 400 N Polk St Unit B, Pineville, NC 28134

The Pineville brewery known as the spot for sports fans is gearing up to celebrate the World Cup. Show up starting Sunday at 11 a.m. to watch Qatar v. Ecuador.

Resident Culture South End/El Toro Bruto

Location: 332 W. Bland St., Charlotte, NC 28203

Resident Culture Brewing Co., along with soccer star Christian Fuchs, threw a No Fuchs Given World Cup Watch Party at the South End location during the USA vs. Wales match on Monday, Nov. 21.

Did you miss the party? All good — Resident Culture South End will show all USA World Cup matches. It has a new, permanent 110-inch projector screen and HDTV screens throughout the taproom. No Fuchs Given lager will be offered throughout the FIFA World Cup while supplies last.

Rí Rá

Location: 208 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Rí Rá will show the whole World Cup series from Nov. 20-Dec 18. The Irish pub has several TVs downstairs and two 12-foot-long flat-screen TVs upstairs. Here are some details:

  • The pub’s first level will be open early for all 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. matches. Early offerings will be breakfast sandwiches (egg on a buttery brioche bun with sausage or smoked bacon and cheddar, Swiss or American), served with seasoned home fries and sautéed onions and red peppers. The regular menu starts at 11 a.m.
  • For the USA games and other big matches later in the tournament, Ri Ra will have both levels open.
  • Games will be shown on 6 TVs and a 12’ projector screen.
  • RiRa will feature two nonalcoholic beers: Guinness 0 in the can for $4 and Heineken 0.0 in the bottle for $4. There’s also a long list of draft beer and cider, plus whiskey from Charlotte’s own Great Wagon Road Distilling.

Salud Cerveceria

Location: 3306-C N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205

The best beer bar in the country for 3 years running already opens its upstairs at 8 a.m. During the World Cup, it will be featuring a weekly breakfast special with food from a country that’s playing in the World Cup and $4 Del Patio House Lager every match day. See you there!
