Research 2023 primary election candidates for Charlotte City Council, mayor

The Charlotte Observer asked all candidates for Charlotte City Council to answer questions in advance of the Sept. 12 primary election.

Click the names below to read their response to the candidate questionnaire. Voters pick one person for district seats and up to four people for at-large seats. Early voting begins Thursday and continues until Sept. 9.

The following candidates did not respond to the Observer’s survey:

Charlene Henderson El, a Democratic challenger running for an at-large position

Tiawana Brown, a Democratic challenger running for District 3

District 5 Councilwoman Marjorie Molina, a Democratic incumbent running for reelection.
