Grab the popcorn (and the roses) because the latest summer season of “The Bachelorette” is back — and it features a suitor from North Carolina.

The premiere episode of Season 21 of ABC’S hit reality show kicked off Monday night, with 25 eligible bachelors looking for love with 26-year-old Jenn Tran. Among those men is Marcus Shoberg from Raleigh.

With yet another North Carolina resident in the spotlight of the popular franchise, we’ll be following along and recapping his journey every week.

Did Marcus get a rose? Who got eliminated on the first night?

Spoiler alert: Here’s what happened during the first night of the season.

Who is Marcus Shoberg?

Among the 25 men competing on this season of the show, Marcus is the only contestant from the Tar Heel state.

Richard Middlesworth Disney

The 31-year-old Army Ranger veteran, who also says he hopes to be an astronaut one day, founded a local software engineering company, according to his LinkedIn.

“The military veteran and Harvard alum is so excited to meet Jenn and hopes she’s the kind, honest, humble woman for whom he’s been searching,” his “Bachelorette” bio says.

“Marcus is a man of humility and wants to start a life with someone who shares his core values. When he isn’t working hard toward his career and his future, Marcus loves going rock climbing with friends and grilling on a Saturday night.”

Marcus makes good 1st impression

Lucky enough, Marcus was the first guy to make an impression on Jenn. He was the first contestant to step out of the limo and share more about his “three big dreams.”

“Growing up, I wanted to serve my country and go to outer space and find my person,” he said. “I’ve been lucky enough that some of those dreams have already come true.”

As shared in his intro video, Marcus opened up about his time in the military, which began a few weeks after graduating high school.

“I’m, like, super proud to have been an Army Ranger, but the last mission I ever went on… I almost didn’t come back from,” he said. “Me and my team were called on to go clear through this compound and in that exchange, a grenade came and everything goes black, and woke up in the hospital in Washington, D.C., and that was, like, day one of the next two months of my life.

“But when you can genuinely appreciate that you, like, woke up in the morning and you have, like, breath in your lungs, that’s a beautiful thing and I wouldn’t have ever been able to appreciate those types of things without that kind of experience.

Now, after about five years of a dating hiatus, he says on the show that he is ready to find love.

“I’m here to see if there’s a connection between Jenn and I, and I hope love is the next mission for me,” Marcus shared.

Marcus & Jenn 1-on-1

The two seemed to hit it off even more during a one-on-one conversation at the cocktail party, when Jenn told Marcus that she was impressed with his confidence — despite how nervous he felt.

“I think Marcus and I have a little bit of chemistry,” Jenn said on camera. “I feel very comfortable with him, and conversation is easy. He’s, you know, easy on the eyes as well and I can’t believe I have such strong connections already. I’m so excited about these men and to see more of what’s coming.”

Who got Jenn’s 1st impression rose?

Sam M., a contractor from Myrtle Beach, S.C., got the coveted rose — and the only kiss of the night.

Did Marcus get a rose from Jenn?

Though he may have been worried about getting sent home, Marcus did get a rose from Jenn and will continue his journey on “The Bachelorette.”

“I want to be confident in the time that I spent with her. I got her to laugh, I got her to open up, but there’s a lot of really good guys here,” he said before the rose ceremony.

“I would love to get a rose from Jenn tonight and stick around long enough to let her know who I am. To fall in love with Jenn sounds like a dream come true.”

Who got eliminated during the rose ceremony?

Of the 25 men that started out this season, here’s who did not receive a rose and was sent home:

  • Brendan

  • Brett

  • Dakota

  • Kevin

  • Matt

  • Moze

  • Ricky
