After his head-over-heels first date with Jenn Tran, the Bachelorette, Raleigh’s Marcus Shoberg has made it to another week of ABC’s hit reality dating show.
Given that he’s snagged the first limo entrance on Night 1 and the first one-on-one date of the season, things have been going well — to say the least— for the local military veteran and 26-year-old Tran.
So what happened during week 3 as he and the remaining 15 men continue building their connections with the show’s leading lady? Spoiler alert: Here’s a recap of the latest episode.
‘Looking for love down under’
Though he didn’t get a one-on-one date this week — Spencer got a private helicopter ride with Jenn — Marcus did take part in one of two group dates during their second week in Melbourne.
In a group date like no other, the guys hit the stage of the historic Forum Theatre as part of a Bachelorette-version of Australia’s Thunder from Down Under — where Marcus strutted his stuff as a sexy astronaut, “Neil Real Strong.”
“I didn’t know that Marcus had that spicy side to him. He really surprised me today,” Jenn said in an interview with producers after his spicy performance.
Though she was impressed with his out-of-this world performance, Jonathan was the one who took home the title of “Mr. Thunder from Down Under.”
As the rest of the group date went on, there was continued tension between Devin, Sam M. and Thomas N. — especially after Sam N. spoke about the judgment he felt after admitting on stage that he had started to fall in love with Jenn. But Marcus seemed to stay out of the drama.
Here for the right or wrong reasons?
The drama didn’t stop there. Aaron told Jenn he would need to leave the show to follow his career dreams of becoming a fighter pilot. But before he left, he told Jenn that some of the other men weren’t ready for an engagement.
To further frustrate Jenn, Aaron didn’t name names, leaving her to wonder who wasn’t there for the right reasons. (This is one of the absolute worst things for any Bachelor or Bachelorette). She confronted the guys at the cocktail party before the rose ceremony, warning that whoever didn’t have good intention should exit the mansion.
While the bickering continued among the men, Marcus once again didn’t get involved. Jenn, still fuming, invited him for a conversation, and he actually helped cheer her up.
“I just want you to know that, like, you know I was pretty unsure of this entire experience,” he told her. “But like I do feel like I’m right where I need to be. I catch myself thinking about you when we’re not together, which is super surprising to me.”
After Jenn received those reassurances, she told Marcus how much he made her feel better.
“This is what I needed,” she said.
Did Marcus get a rose from Jenn?
Lucky for Marcus, he got the first rose during the rose ceremony to continue building a connection with Jenn next week.
Who got eliminated during the rose ceremony?
Of the 15 remaining men, who did not receive a rose from Jenn and went home:
Hakeem
Tomas A.
Aaron, an aerospace engineer, self-eliminated after getting a call about pilot training.
